“I know firsthand how relieving respite care is to a caregiver. Alongside my Dad, I had the joy of caring for my mom who had Multiple Sclerosis for 21 years.

God placed the idea for the Caregiving Support Network on my heart while I was still caring for my Mom around 2015. I knew other caregivers had to be facing the same hardships and joys I was and I was compelled to tell them that they were not alone.”

“I grew up with my grandparents living with my Mom and Dad. Because my Mom was a nurse, she undertook the responsibility of caregiving for my Nan and Pop as they got older.

It was difficult for my family, even though we considered ourselves lucky to have someone with medical knowledge around. When my wife Rebekah told me she wanted to take the leap to help unpaid family caregivers, I knew this was something we were meant to do.”

“Caregiving can be a thankless job that requires lots of work, love, and attention. Over the years, as my grandmother needed more care, my Aunt took over as her primary caregiver. I was able to help both of them with various household tasks. As I helped my Aunt and Grandma, I understood how a break — no matter how brief — replenishes the energy to continue giving to those we care so deeply about.”

Meet Our Board of Directors

  • Sarah Robb

    PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD

My mom Dannielle Lewis dealt with chronic illness for 20 years before we lost her in 2018. She had a rare illness called Addison’s disease that often left her immobile, in pain, and with brain-fog. Even with all these difficulties, my mom was an amazing advocate for herself and sought out doctors until she was finally diagnosed after years of struggling with her symptoms. I was her full-time caregiver and was able to spend the most time with her out of my family.

I know the loneliness and pain of being a caregiver, but I also know the joys of being with your loved one through the hardest times of their life. I want to help other caregivers because it was what I needed when I was in the throes myself, but it is also a way to stay close to my mom’s story and help to share it with others.”

  • Melissa D'Ambrosio

    BOARD TREASURER

“I feel that we are here to do the best work of our lives. To inspire positive change, and leave the world better than we found it. I joined the Caregiving Support Network to do just that. I know how much love motivates caregivers — and how physically, mentally, and financially exhausting this role can be at times.

Some of the greatest, and most challenging , work of my life has been caring for loved ones whoo are medically fragile. I am so proud to be a part of an organization dedicated to easing some of the burdens that caregivers face while allowing them to lean into the love that motivates their work.”

  • Hannah Van Valkenburg

    BOARD SECRETARY

“I am a communications and project management professional. My primary motivation in my career and personal life is to build stronger communities. I have navigated the nonprofit and for-profit sectors in pursuit of opportunities to empower individuals to live well and create lasting change in the lives they touch.

I was inspired to join Caregiving Support Network because I too believe quality care and financial security are fundamental building blocks within communities. Alongside Caregiving Support Network, I am committed to equipping both caregivers and families with life-changing resources.”
